Electromechanical Assembly Technician

SynTouch is seeking an Electromechanical Assembly Technician to build, test, refurbish, and troubleshoot tactile sensors used in robotics, measurement equipment, and more.This position will report to the Production Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow standard operating procedures for kitting, programming, calibrating, quality checking, and assembling sensors across several products.
  • Simultaneously manage assembly of multiple products.
  • Collaborate with engineering to refine the assembly processes, troubleshoot individual device failures, and inspect first article components from vendors.
  • Debug problems in products, assemblies, subassemblies, and components, both electrical and mechanical in nature.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing shipment logistics of sensors to clients.

 Basic qualifications

  • Hand and reflow soldering of electrical components down to 0402 and occasionally 0201.
  • Use of hand tools for tapping, drilling, filing, shaping using a Dremel tool on custom parts.
  • Operating laboratory equipment such as vacuum chambers, pneumatic equipment, ovens, and microscopes.
  • Recording and understanding sensor data outputs from custom Graphical User Interfaces.
  • Ability to work independently and amongst a team in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
  • Working from verbal and written instructions, work plans, and directives.
  • Clear and concise communication and excellent organizational skills.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency.
  • High School Education or GED equivalent.

 Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Assembling high cost, low-volume electromechanical devices requiring several manual steps.
  • Experience mixing, applying, and molding silicones, epoxies, and other adhesives.
  • Use of electrical testing equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Experience installing and programming microcontroller firmware.

Additional Requirements:

  • Occasionally must be able to work extended hours and weekends on an as-needed basis.
  • Travel is 0% and not required for this position.
  • Applicant must be a

    • Eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
